The Piedmontese breed is a moderately sized beef breed, that naturally evolved over centuries in the alpine environment of northwest Italy. The Piedmontese are born fawn in color and gradually change to grey/white with full black skin pigmentation.
The Piedmontese Breed is the “MYOSTATIN BREED”
This natural Myostatin Variant C1313Y gene is carried only by the Piedmontese Breed. This dramatically improves carcass YIELD while also reducing saturated FAT content and improving TENDERNESS. Our Piedmontese Breeding Bulls are Homozygous (2-copy) for this unique gene. Using our 2-copy Myostatin Bulls on 0-Copy Females will produce 1-copy calves. According to USDA Meat Animal Research Center, 1-copy Myostatin animals produced 71.5% retail product yield and resulted in the leanest, highest yielding carcasses of all 27 breeds compared.
